Tammy Evans is a 1993 graduate of UNC-Wilmington with a BA degree in Elementary Education. Tammy has been dancing since the age of 3 and knew she wanted to teach dance when she began assisting her teacher Lynn Raley at the age of 13. In 1992 she was in Young Indiana Jones, in 1993 she became director of A Step of Class. Tammy is a certified dance teacher through Dance Masters of America and is an active member of Carolina Dance Masters. She has also taught at a Dance Troupe, Inc. seminar.
Elizabeth Doster is originally from the small town of Marshville, NC located outside of Charlotte. She began dancing at the age of 3 under the direction of Mrs. Brooke Gaddy-Bartlett. Mrs. Bartlett is the owner of Victory Talent Dance and Gymnastics Studio where Elizabeth took dance and tumbling classes up until coming to Greenville and attending East Carolina University. There, Elizabeth is a senior in the nursing program and will graduate in May 2009.
Growing up, Elizabeth competed at various competitions including Star Systems, Dance USA, Rising Star, I Love to Dance, Encore, and Showstoppers. She won various honors and was a member of many company routines that went undefeated throughout the years.
Elizabeth has performed at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, the Big Red Boat, and on the Jenny Jones show. She has also made many community and civic appearances
Elizabeth is eager to work with the students at A Step of Class and hopes that she can share her love and passion of dance and tumbling with all she teaches.
Lisa Mace is originally from a small town near Pinehurst, NC. She started dancing at age 3 at Dancer’s Workshop in Sanford; learning from Tori Melby. She was trained in tap, ballet, acro, lyrical and jazz. She started her first solo as well as competing in competitions at age 5. From that time until she was a teenager she received numerous 1st overall awards as well as winning many dance titles at competitions such as Star Systems, Star Power, Headliners, CDM, etc. From the age of 9 until the age of 18, Lisa Competed for the titles of Petite, Junior, Teen, and Miss Dance of North Carolina, every year making the top ten as well as placing in the top 3. Lisa has taken numerous master classes in such locations as Las Vegas, Virginia Beach, Disney World, New Orleans and Myrtle Beach, to stay updated on her dance vocabulary. In 2000, she won the title of Young Miss North Carolina, where she received 2nd runner up in talent and got to travel the state for a year and perform from the mountains to the beach. She was a Varsity Cheerleader at her high school from her sophomore year to her senior year, and her senior year she held the position of choreographer as well as co-captain. Her senior class of roughly 400 students voted her Most talented in the year book superlatives. In 2004 she won the talent award at the Miss Moore County Scholarship Pageant as well as 1st runner-up. In 2005 she received the talent award again and walked away with the title of Miss Moore County. In the summer of 2005 she competed for the title of Miss North Carolina where she received a non-finalist talent award.
She began developing original choreographies at the age of 17 and one of the tap duets that went to competition this past year received many platinum awards as well as some overall awards. This past summer Lisa was a Miss North Carolina Dancer at the Miss North Carolina Pageant for Nina Wheeler, the owner of Nina’s School of Dance in Durham. Her forte is tap, however she is qualified to teach jazz, lyrical, acro, hip hop, and ballet. She has taken instruction from some very well known names such as Debbi Dee, Brenda Buffalino, Diane Walker, Gene Medler, and Frank Hatchet to name a few. She is also trained in the interview field as well as modeling.
For the past three years at ECU she has been cast in the Dance Theatre shows. Currently she is a senior at East Carolina where she is attaining a BFA in Dance Performance with a concentration in Jazz. She teaches at Dancer’s Workshop in the summers. In October she will be gracing the CDM stage once again as she competes for the title of Miss Dance of North Carolina. As soon as she is done competing she plans on getting CDM certified. Her idol is Gene Kelly who is her inspiration in many areas. She believes that dancing is not just technique; it is something that you must is enjoy and do from your heart, while keeping in mind your goal of entertaining an audience.
